WHILE
How a session takes place
1 / Clarification conversation
First I will make sure that you're fit and healthy. Then I'll inform you about how the tattoo ink is injected into the skin and which health risks a tattoo entails. We will take time to talk about questions or fears you might have.
4 / Your well-being
I want you to feel comfortable throughout the session, so there is no problem for you to watch something on your tablet or listen to music while getting tattooed. You should always feel confident to ask for a break.
2 / Stencil application
Together we will find the perfect size and position of the design by using a stencil. We might make little adjustments to the design if necessary.
5 / Completion
Once I'm finished we'll inspect the result closely. After making sure that you're completely happy with it, I will take pictures of the fresh tattoo.
3 / Getting tattooed
When the stencil is perfectly positioned, I mostly start drawing the ountlines first. After that I will continue with shading.
6 / Wound care
At last I will desinfect and cover the tattoo with a foil bandage. You will be provided information about how to take care of the fresh tattoo so it can heal well and stay pretty.
AFTER
How to take care of the fresh tattoo
1 / day 1 - 4
The skin of the affected area might be swollen and tender, or it may be very red. The waterproof bandage foil can stay on the fresh tattoo for up to four days and protects the fresh wound against infections. It's normal for the tattoo to leak ink underneath the foil.
If you notice increasing redness, pimples or allergic reactions, remove the bandage immediatly. Consider to see a doctor if irritation lasts for more than a week.
4 / week 3 - 4
In week three your skin will develop a thin layer with a silvery shimmer ("Silberhaut"). It generally takes about four weeks for the colors to appear in full vibrancy.
In the first four weeks, the tattoo should not be exposed to direct sunlight. If you're planning to go on holiday I can provide foil bandages with sunblocker. I also advise against visiting the tanning salon.
2 / removing the foil
Starting at one corner, gently pull the foil parallel to the skin (if necessary in the shower). Wash the tattoo thoroughly with lukewarm water with a pH-neutral, unscented soap. No further foil is needed, but you may cover it over night or when wearing scratchy clothing for another day or two.
5 / first 6 months
It takes up to six months for the skin to remodel its full structure. However, thorough aftercare is usually only required for the first month.
3 / week 1-2
In the first two weeks your skin is still rebuilding its natural protection barrier. Protect the tattoo from dirt and animal hair. Rinse it two to three times a day and treat it with a thin layer of a certified tattoo cream. (Note that conventional wound healing creme can affect the color intensity of the tattoo.) The tattoo may itch - avoid scratching or picking the scab at all costs!
Also please skip exercising, excessive sweating, long baths or sauna sessions and don't expose it to sunlight!
6 / always
You should always pay attention to moisturizing and a high sun protection factor to keep the vibrancy of your tattoo.
